Where is the Trust?

In Customer Service on June 17, 2009 at 5:57 pm

Most of us have that one friend that we moan and groan to about our lives. My friends name is Marcus and he wonderful and blessed. I was talking to him the other day moaning about what direction to take my life in. You see my brother passed away in 2001 and at the time, he was a single parent to two small boys who I am currently raising. I put my life on hold to raise his sons and worked hard to get us adjusted to being a family and getting them over a difficult time in their lives. Now, my boys are 12 and 13 and do not need cuddling any longer. I now have the opportunity start working on having a life of my own. Problem is I have had a hard time trying figure out what that life would like look. I do not want to go back to the life I had before I got my boys and I am unsure of the life I am supposed to have now.

Over the years, I lost interest in all the things that were interesting to me when I was single without children. I focused on being careful of my choices knowing that whatever choice I made, my kids went along for the ride and I wanted to make sure I was not entering them into the house of horror. I have not always made the best choices, but I have done the best I have been able to and at this point, I am very proud of my boys. I am proud of how far we have come as a family and astonished at their ability to move forward after many hardships faced at such young ages. Now what do we do? I talked to my wonderful friend Marcus and he suggested I just try some things and to trust God. One of my problems is that I worry too much, so he told me a story.

What if your oldest boy came to you and said mom I have a problem and after listening you said, do not worry son, I got you. Then a half hour later he came back with the same problem and again, you said, do not worry son, I got you. Then a half hour later, he came back again, how would you feel? You would feel as if he does not trust your right. I agreed. He said this is how God feels when we keep coming to him with the same problems, we are saying “God, I don’t trust you,” This really got me to thinking, he was so right, it really is what we are saying when we keep worrying and going back to God with the same problems over and over.

I sat down and wrote a list of things that I worry about and wrote to God letting him know that I trust him in all of these situations. It also helped me decide that I can stop being scared and try some things. How will I know what kind of life I can and will have if I do not try some new things and believe that God has my back? I am not saying being reckless, just stepping outside of my comfort zone.

My questions to you are these:

Do you trust your marketing process to help you achieve the goals you have set for your business and do you allow the process time to work or do you change when things are not working quickly?

Can your customers trust you to provide the services that they are paying your for, do they happily come back for more and refer others to you?

Do you trust yourself and your ability to provide the best services that you can and treat your customers with respect?

Do you remain in your comfort zone afraid to try new things, offer new services or eliminate old services?

Are you always looking out for ways to improve your customer service and value that your customers receive from your business?

Let me know what you think and what you are doing, I would love to hear from you.
